The history of the company goes back to 1850. Originally founded by Father and
Son G.H & S Keen Andrew's Great Great Grandfather who produced furniture 
in High Wycombe, Bucks. They were later awarded the Royal Warrant through 
supplying their products to King George V & Queen Mary. The factory still 
exists to this day & produces beds with sales stretching across the globe and
still hold the Royal Warrant.

With production, trading & product being the focus of the family, Mercantile
International Group PLC was founded in July 1975 by Dr. Malcolm McLaren.
The Company was founded on technical knowledge for the products as well
as commerce and established their unique selling point "Practical 
Implementation of Innovative Skills."

Dr. McLaren was a pioneer of his time being one of the first Westerners into
China in the late 1970s, and accompanied the Government of the time on
Trade Missions developing relationships with the Chinese & other emerging
markets. Mercantile was the largest & most successful independent
international Agency Company with offices & associates based in the
UK, Spain, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, India 
& Singapore. Trade in excess of £30 million was handled through Mercantile 
predominantly supplying the DIY & Trade industry.

From this Romac International Sourcing was founded following the death of 
Dr. McLaren by his Son Andrew. Romac was a part of the original Mercantile
International Group of companies & continues the philosophy of Mercantile
whilst utilising the strengths & relationships the Company had built up over 
many years.

Andrew's experience includes over 17 years of working in senior sourcing positions in the retail industry including both Wickes Building 
Supplies & B&Q and as such has a unique perspective having worked as both a Buyer & Seller.
